Dear Derby Family,

With a heavy heart, we have to share some news with you that has rocked the Staples family.  Lindsey Dean, daughter of Michele and Alvin, was recently diagnosed with Fibrolameller Hepatocellular Carcinoma, a rare form of liver cancer that affects a mere 200 people each year.

This unimaginable and unexpected diagnosis has hit the Staples family very hard.  Unfortunately, the timing could not have been any worse for a diagnosis since Lindsey’s health insurance effective date is November 1, 2014. The past month has been filled with doctor visits, hospital stays, scans, test and medicines that have already added up to over $150,000.

Now is the time for us to rally around the family that so deeply believes in each of our families, children and has embraced us over the years.  They have set up an online donation where every dollar donated will help offset the growing medical bills.

Please take a moment to visit  to learn more about her story and to donate what you can.  Trust and believe every little bit helps.

They have also set up a special non-profit bank account so if you prefer to send a check and some words of encouragement, you can mail those to:

8021 Old Plank Rd

Fredericksburg, VA  22407

Please make your check payable to: Stronger than Fibrolamellar

Luckily, Lindsey is a Staples and they are a tough bunch!  She is ready to take this cancer on head and fight as hard as she can to find the right cure.  Please help us shower Lindsey and her family with all of the love, prayers, thoughts and support we possibly can right now and show this cancer that there is strength in numbers!
